Apple Picking

This past Sunday we went apple picking at C.N. Smith Farm in East Bridgewater. We went last year and really liked it so decided to try it again this year. Let me tell you, driving 5 minutes down the road is so much better then the hour we use to drive to NH.

We always go the last weekend in September and every year I always think we should have gone earlier because most of the trees are picked over, but that was not the case this year. We usually have to walk toward the back of the orchards to get to the trees were Grace can reach, but this year we went 4 rows back and all the trees still had tons of apples on them!

Smith Farm is great because you park right there, no hayride, and not a ton of walking. We decided to give the wagon a try for the babies, we also brought the backpack in case it wasn't working, or Grace got tired.

and her 1st bite, so lady like!

Grace decided she wanted to help pull the babies, girl has muscles, because they are heavy!

Grace got tired of walking, so Emma went into the backpack and Grace went into the wagon.
After we finished picking apples we stopped and grabbed lunch. Smith farm has a little area out at the orchards where you can buy hamburger, hotdogs, donuts, cider, etc. I packed my lunch so that I wouldn't have to worry about calories, but Cole and Grace each got a hot dog and donut.

After lunch we packed up the car. On the way out we stopped at the farm store so Grace could buy a honey stick and see the animals.
it's crazy to see how much Grace has grown in just a year:
I tried to get a picture of all 3, but failed miserably and to be honest I was so hot and sweaty that I gave up after a few tries.
After apple picking we came home and had a little cake for Cole's Mom's birthday. I made a lemon soda cake, so lemon cake mix, diet sprite, and then topped with fat free cool whip and lemon zest, making it roughly 212 calories for 1/12th of the cake!

Autumn Fest

This past Saturday we took the kids to Bridgewater's Autum Fest. We had never been, but decided to check it out. It was a free event, a few of the things cost, but they were maybe a $1 a piece.

Grace was very excited about going!
Grace was not into the reptiles and critters and didn't even give the turtle more then a quick glance.

Grace was very excited about the face painting, she was talking all day about getting her face painted, so Cole and I both were very thankful that they were actually doing face painting.

Barn Babies was there and for a dollar you could go in and hold all these adorable baby animals. Grace loved it!

After the animals we went and painted pumpkins.

Carter was just taking it all in.
 So was Emma.

We had a great time and I'm so happy we went, we were afraid it would get rained out, but it turned out to be a nice day! I think that Autumn Fest will be a yearly event for us!
