What Decade Is it?

I am so behind it times, this is how I listen to music, while I cook and clean in the kitchen:

Yup, with a Dora radio! How cool am I?! My iPod died a few months ago, which is right around the same time I stopped running, coincidence? I think not! We don't have wifi here so I can't even bring my laptop out into the kitchen. So whenever I talk about cooking picture me rocking out with my Dora radio!

Thinking of Having Kids?

I saw this posted online and could not stop laughing!

Thinking of Having Kids? Do this 11 step program first!

Lesson 1
1. Go to the grocery store.
2. Arrange to have your salary paid directly to their head office.
3. Go home.
4. Pick up the newspaper.
5. Read it for the last time.

Lesson 2
Before you finally go ahead and have children, find a couple who already are parents and berate them about their.
1. Methods of discipline.
2. Lack of patience.
3. Appallingly low tolerance levels.
4. Allowing their children to run wild.
5. Suggest ways in which they might improve their child’s breastfeeding ,sleep habits, toilet training, table manners, and overall behaviour. Enjoy it because it will be the last time in your life you will have all the answers.

Lesson 3
A really good way to discover how the nights might feel.
1. Get home from work and immediately begin walking around the living room from5PM to 10PM carrying a wet bag weighing approximately 8-12 pounds, with a radio turned to static (or some other obnoxious sound) playing loudly. (Eat cold food with one hand for dinner)
2. At 10PM, put the bag gently down, set the alarm for midnight, and go to sleep.
3. Get up at 12 and walk around the living room again, with the bag, until 1AM.
4. Set the alarm for 3AM.
5. As you can’t get back to sleep, get up at 2AM and make a drink and watch an infomercial.
6. Go to bed at 2:45AM.
7. Get up at 3AM when the alarm goes off.
8. Sing songs quietly in the dark until 4AM.
9. Get up. Make breakfast. Get ready for work and go to work (work hard and be productive)

Repeat steps 1-9 each night. Keep this up for 3-5 years. Look cheerful and together.

Lesson 4
Can you stand the mess children make? To find out.
1. Smear peanut butter onto the sofa and jam onto the curtains.
2. Hide a piece of raw chicken behind the stereo and leave it there all summer.
3. Stick your fingers in the flower bed.
4. Then rub them on the clean walls.
5. Take your favourite book, photo album, etc. Wreck it.
6. Spill milk on your new pillows. Cover the stains with crayons. How does that look?

Lesson 5
Dressing small children is not as easy as it seems.
1. Buy an octopus and a small bag made out of loose mesh.
2. Attempt to put the octopus into the bag so that none of the arms hang out.

Time allowed for this – all morning.

Lesson 6
Forget the BMW and buy a mini-van. And don’t think that you can leave it out in the driveway spotless and shining. Family cars don’t look like that.
1. Buy a chocolate ice cream cone and put it in the glove compartment. Leave it there.
2. Get a dime. Stick it in the CD player.
3. Take a family size package of chocolate cookies. Mash them into the backseat. Sprinkle cheerios all over the floor, then smash them with your foot.
4. Run a garden rake along both sides of the car.

Lesson 7
Go to the local grocery store. Take with you the closest thing you can find to a pre-school child. (A full-grown goat is an excellent choice). If you intend to have more than one child, then definitely take more than one goat. Buy your week’s groceries without letting the goats out of your sight. Pay for everything the goat eats or destroys.

Until you can easily accomplish this, do not even contemplate having children.

Lesson 8
1. Hollow out a melon.
2. Make a small hole in the side.
3. Suspend it from the ceiling and swing it from side to side.
4. Now get a bowl of soggy Cheerios and attempt to spoon them into the swaying melon by pretending to be an airplane.
5. Continue until half the Cheerios are gone.
6. Tip half into your lap. The other half, just throw up in the air.

You are now ready to feed a nine- month-old baby.

Lesson 9
Learn the names of every character from Sesame Street , Barney, Disney, the Teletubbies, and Pokemon. Watch nothing else on TV but PBS, the Disney channel or Noggin for at least five years. (I know, you’re thinking What’s'Noggin’?) Exactly the point.

Lesson 10
Make a recording of Fran Drescher saying ‘mommy’ repeatedly.(Important: no more than a four second delay between each ‘mommy’;occasional crescendo to the level of a supersonic jet is required). Play this
tape in your car everywhere you go for the next four years. You are now readyto take a long trip with a toddler.

Lesson 11
Start talking to an adult of your choice. Have someone else continually tug on your skirt hem, shirt- sleeve, or elbow while playing the ‘mommy’ tape made from Lesson 10 above. You are now ready to have a conversation with an adult while there is a child in the room.

Random Photos

Just a few cute photos from the past week.

Cole and Grace decorating the Christmas tree, we only put ornaments of the top half, I knew if we put them lower Grace would be tempted to take them off.
Carter being an old man, just enjoying sitting in front of Auntie and Uncle Josh's new fireplace.
Staring at Jackson
3 snuggling babies, Carter seems pretty mad about it.
Grace rocked a single ponytail the other day.
Carter wore his cute little hat yesterday
It may have been a little too big!
Oh, and Carter is totally cool with rocking a purple binkie, he often rocks the purple/pink blankies anyways.

Follow A Friend

A friend of mine from college has started a blog and I thought it would be nice if those who read our blog headed over to her's to leave some thoughtful words. She is currently trying to have a baby, but has hit many bumps in the road. Through it all she has managed to keep positive and push through. This girl is my inspiration! She helps to remind me how lucky Cole and I are. Please go here and leave her some love!

Pet Peeve!

*Warning whining ahead!*

Cole, Grace, and I were at the mall today and at least 3 different people felt the need to say "Enjoy her now before she is _________ (fill in the blank.)" Seriously? 1. I do enjoy her, every minute of her life and 2. I will still enjoy her when she's walking, talking, driving, etc. News flash people you should enjoy EVERY minute of your child's life, not just the early ones! It makes me so mad that some people don't show their kids as much love as they did when they were babies. Your child needs your love just as much now as they did when they were infants. So I WILL enjoy her now, but you should also enjoy your kids NOW, regardless if they are 2, 12, or 22!

Rant over! Now go and enjoy your kid because I sure will enjoy mine!

A Few Photos

Just a few pictures from the past few days of our silly baby!

Grace apparently spends to much time watching Lily, because she thinks she's a dog as well and carries things around in her mouth.

I finally got a pictures of Grace's two bottom teeth!
Just a cute picture of Lily trying to steal Cookie Monster (don't worry no Cookie Monsters were damaged).

Finally Did It!

Well, I finally broke down and made an official play area in our living room. I'd show the before, but it's much to embarrassing to share, which is why we rearranged it! So here's our new play area!
and just a silly picture to share...she'll hate me someday for this!

Seriously?!

Story time!

Last night before we went to Chili's as a family to celebrate our anniversary we stopped at Target. I know Chili's is so klassy, but they have an allergen menu and it's not a huge deal to throw food on the ground. Anyways my story is about Target, not Chili's.

So we ran to Target to pick up a few things, but at Target a few things always turns into many things. I had Grace in the wrap and her and I were in the kids' paint/crayon aisle, when this crazy old lady (col, for short) riding on a motorized shopping cart came bombing down the aisle. I immediately jumped back to get out of her way, but she stopped in front of us and began talking.

col: "oh, how cute!"
me:"Thanks!"
col:"What's her name?"
me:"Grace"
col:"How old is she?"
me:"8 months"
col:"Really? She's a peanut!"

Ok, I laugh, because Grace is so not a peanut, but I just please this woman and shake my head.
col:"How much does she weigh?"
me:"Almost 22 pounds."
col:"Tiny, huh?"
me:"Ugh, ya...she's in the 95th percentile for weight."
col:"She's 8 months?

col is now beginning to get mad and snippy, but I try to remain pleasant and keep smiling and laughing.

me:"yup"
col:"What month was she born!"

Hmm, I'm starting to think this isn't going so well

me:"September"
col:Really?"

What I wanted to say was "I think I know what month my daughter was born in" but I just nod my head instead.

col:"Well my granddaughter was born in October and she looks so much bigger. How much did you say she weighs?"
me:"Almost 22 pounds"
col:"Well, my granddaughter only weighs 15, but is a month younger, but looks so much bigger...why?

Huh?You're asking me why my daughter looks smaller, but is actually bigger...hell, I don't know, crazy lady! But instead of saying that I say "I don't know...I guess Grace just carries all her weight in her thighs" of course I'm laughing and smiling, but secretly hoping someone else comes down the aisle so that this lady will stop yelling at me.

col:"How much does she weigh?"
Not again..."22 pounds"
col:"Are you sure, because she looks so much smaller then my granddaughter!"

Just in time Cole saves me by finding me and asking me a question about the infant Tylenol, I act concerned enough with it that Crazy Old Lady drives off.

Some people really are crazy, you never know who you'll meet at Target! I didn't know I needed to be armed with hospital records to prove the weight and age of my child, but now I know for future outings!

Belt or No Belt...

that is the question. Shakespeare anyone? No? Ok moving on... I'm trying to plan my outfit for Jacob's dedication next Saturday and I need help. I can't decide if it looks better with or without the belt. Do I look like a frumpy old lady without the belt? or Does the belt make me look extra hippy, as in wide hips, not the tree hugging kind? I'm going to make a poll on the side or feel free to leave your opinion in the comments.

For My Sister

We didn't have any shelves in the freezer and I couldn't stand drop stuff on my toes 5 times a day so I decided to organizer the freezer. I bought a cheap $5 kitchen wire shelf at Target and am so happy with it. My sister was curious how it went so I thought I'd share pictures with her and what better place to share than on our blog!

so the gift bag is the make shift breast milk dispenser.
I put the boxed, stackable stuff on top, and the misshapen, hard to stack stuff on the bottom.

I placed all the frozen veggies standing up on the freezer door.

New Do

So I finally went and got my hair done. It had been a year, yes a whole year, since I last had my hair cut. Cole got me a gift certificate to get it cut and colored for my birthday back in October, but I wasn't brave enough to leave Grace. I finally sucked it up and left Grace for the first time with Daddy for a whole hour and a half. It was so nerve racking, I think I'll wait awhile before I do it again, I couldn't stop worrying. Grace's sleep schedule also got messed up also, I guess she needs her Mommy for her afternoon nap, so she was so overtired last night.

Well here's the before:

and the after:

I'm pretty happy with the results!

Sounds way to fishy to me!

I just watched this link http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2008/07/29/dnt.ok.puppy.kills.baby.cnn on CNN. This story just doesn't sit right with me, why on earth was this baby left unattended? How could a 6 week old puppy maul the infant to death without an adult hearing it?

This breaks my heart that an innocent baby and puppy had to die because of some other people's neglect!
