Sick day photos

No don't worry no photos of anyone actually getting sick! I was holding both Emma & Carter (teething times 2!) the other day on our puke filled Valentine's day and Grace started to puke, so I had to put them down as fast as possible to help Grace aim for the bucket. Well I just put them both down in a bouncy together to get to Grace and they both seemed to like it and stayed like that watching tv.

Poor Miss Grace stayed like this most of the day.
Poor baby did such a good job with her potty training despite being sick. On top of the puking she came down with some awful non stop diarrhea, yet managed to not have one accident. I'm glad we potty trained when we did, it saved me from having to change a million yucky poopy diapers!

Could it be?

Could it be that my princess loving girly daughter has a tom boy streak in her? We went to Target last night to let Grace pick out another potty present for pooping on the potty all week (yay!) While we were there I let her pick out a new pair of socks from their dollar section. Grace decided not to get the Barbie ones, or the Dora ones, not the princess ones, but the black boy Woody socks.
That's fine Grace likes Toy Story and most Toy Story items are pretty boyish.

Then we had Grace pick out some Valentine's to give to people...she was trying to decide between the Tinkerbell ones, the Princess ones, the puppy ones, and the Mickey Mouse ones, yet decided last minute that she HAD to have these dinosaur ones! I guess it must be all the Dino Dan she's been watching lately!

But her girl streak is still so much stronger...she decided to pick out the Liv Katie doll as her potty present!
I think it was the fact that she comes with a skateboard and Grace had just watched the Yo Gabba Gabba episode about skateboarding! Grace decided that Katie HAD to go to the movies with her and Daddy today!

"Poop on Potty"

Ever since we started potty training Grace (almost 2 weeks now!) she's always telling Emma and Carter how they need to "poop on big potty! No poppy in diappie!!" So the other day when Carter was pooping After Grace explained to him again about "No poppy in diappie Carter!" I thought I'd please her by putting him on her potty....she was so proud of him!!

and just because it's cute

"Carter is that you??"

Potty Updates

I've now lost count of what day we're on, day 10 maybe, but Grace is a champ! Grace is going fantastic! She has been accident free for 3-4 days now. She goes to the bathroom without any prompting and when we are out so makes us stop so she can pee. She goes great with having to pee on the big potty when we're out.

Grace is funny now that she is potty trained because she's constantly reminding everyone to go "pee-pee on the potty." The other day Cole has asked me if Grace had gone potty yet and Grace chimed in with "Daddy no poopy on Grace's potty!" Just picturing Cole trying to sit on Grace's potty cracks me up! Just tonight while Cole and Grace we playing Grace randomly blurted out "Daddy don't poopy in your undies!" She's such a funny girl!

As another side funny note Grace was doing yoga on t.v tonight and kept asking for "more yougurt!" I <3 her!

I posted the other day about how as her prize for filling up her potty chart she got to pick out some toys and she picked a Yo Gabba Gabba book, a broom, and Yo Gabba Gabba undies so just thought I'd share some pictures of her potty prizes!
Using her new broom while wearing her new Gabba undies!

Undies, broom, and book...all her choosing!

Grace's full potty chart
And just because they are just as silly as their sister!

Day 6

Grace was accident free ALL day! I'm so proud of her! She even managed to keep her diaper dry during her nap and pooped on the potty tonight! We were driving to Cole's Aunt's house when Grace yelled that she needed to pee, we told her to hold it, while we tried to find a place to pee. We stopped at a Panera, but the person who was in the bathroom was taking so long so we had to run her outside to use the potty in the car and she managed to hold it that whole time!!

We are still having a million false alarms, but she did stay dry all day, so I'd call that a win!!

Potty Training Day 5

Day 5...man, this potty training stuff is hard work! I'm exhausted from running back and forth to and from the potty every 2 minutes, but I must say Grace is doing great! Grace only had 1 accident today and it was while dancing and she had pants on with her undies for the first time, so I think that just threw her off. We actually ventured out of the house today with Grace in undies and she managed to stay dry the WHOLE time, not one accident!! She even peed on the big potty at Target! We did have several false alarms...which meant 5 potty trips while at Target, 2 attempts on the potty in the car (yes we brought a potty for the car), and 1 stop on  the side of the road to try the potty again.

We are still working on getting the poop on the potty thing down, she hasn't had any accidents as far as poop go today, but she also hasn't pooped today. I think she's a little apprehensive about pooping on the potty, so she's holding it in as long as she can.

Potty training is interfering with naps and bed time though, because every 5 minutes she yells that she has to pee! I don't want to discourage her going on the potty so EVERY time she yells for the potty, we go. So far she has missed her nap today and she's going to bed 2 hours later tonight because she's been trying to poop for the last hour, she did manage to poop a little, but not quite enough.

Why can't potty training be one of those things that kids just learn to do naturally on their own?! Every time I want to give up and just put Grace in a diaper for just an hour, I think about all the work we've put in thus far and would hate for all this work to go to waste.

We let Grace pick out a prize at Target today for filling up her potty chart....she picked a toy broom, yup, not a Barbie or a baby, but a broom! As a side note we have saved so much money on diapers this week, but Grace is making up the difference my using a ridiculous amount of toilet paper every time she wipes!

Day 3 & Week 3

I must say that day 3 of potty training has gone a lot better! Grace was accident free all day and even pooped ON the potty! She managed to stay dry at gymnastics and peed on the potty as soon as she got home! We stopped setting the timer today and just asked her every now and then if she needed to use the potty. Grace would say when she needed to potty and we'd run to the potty and she'd go! We were eating dinner and she asked for the potty, we got down, and sat on the potty and sure enough she pooped! We did quite the potty dance after that one!

Today marked 3 weeks since starting my diet! I'm feeling good about it and am happy to say that I have not cheated once, or gone out of my calorie range, nor have I felt the need to. I'm down 11.1 pounds as of this morning!

Potty Training...

or as I like to refer to it HELL! I hate potty training! Today was day 2 of Grace in undies, she is actually doing quite well, it's just exhausting! We started yesterday afternoon putting her in undies and setting the timer and every 10-15 minutes she'd sit on the potty. She did great and successfully peed on the potty 4 times yesterday. Grace didn't have any accidents in her undies yesterday, but she did poop in the bathie last night...GROSS!

As soon as she woke up this morning (bright and early at 6am!) I changed her out of her diaper and let her pick out some undies to wear, we have a stack..blue's clue's, Tinkerbell, Dora, Kia Lan, Sponge Bob, etc.

I had her sit on the potty for a good 10 minutes until she went pee..yay! Every time she went to the bathroom on the potty she got to put a sticker on her potty chart and she got to pick a "prize" out of the prize bag. In the prize bag are juice boxes, Barbie fruit snacks, and the stuff I got from Target's $1 bin, that was suppose to be Grace's Valentine's Day presents. Grace always picks either a juice box or fruit snack...always!

So Grace would sit on the potty, sometimes she'd only sit for a few minutes, other times she'd sit for 20 minutes...we did LOTS of reading and block stacking today! If she peed I'd reset the timer for 15-20 minutes depending on how much she was drinking and how much she peed. If she didn't pee I'd reset the timer for 5 minutes and continue the above process.

I did this from 6am-11:30am with NO accidents! I stopped at 11:30 and put her in a diaper for her nap, she fought her nap BIG time, but finally fell asleep after an hour and slept until 2pm. After her nap I took off her diaper and put undies back on. We continued our routine, with no accidents until 5pm. At 5 she pooped in her undies..if you think a poopy diaper is gross, just wait until you've experienced  poopy undies! At this point I was just exhausted, I needed to start dinner and Cole wasn't going to be home until 630 pm, but had to be back out the door by 715 for hockey, so I cleaned Grace up and put her in a diaper.

After dinner I put her back into undies and she peed on the potty again. Finally at 7:30pm I got her ready for bed and put a diaper back on. Overall Grace peed in the potty 9 times today and only had 1 accident in her underwear! We are making progress, but potty training is SO hard! We'll see how tomorrow goes, Grace has gymnastics and dance, and the babies are suppose to have picture, which means lots of diaper time, so I don't know how much this will set us back, I guess we'll see!

It was cold today so Grace wore leg warmers to keep warm while potty training!

I drank LOTS of coffee to get me through today!
Carter and I feel the same way about potty training!
Can't I just hire someone to potty train Grace for me?!

Updates

Just a few random updates on what's been going on today!

Carter & Emma Update
Carter and Emma had their ultrasounds done today. I mentioned the other day about how they were going to see a GI doctor to help come up with a plan for their reflux, well the doctor wanted them to have an ultrasound before he saw them. They had to fast for 3 hours before their ultrasound, but once you add it wait time and procedure time it ends up being 4 hours at least. This was pure torture! They have been eating between 2-3 hours during the day and going 3-4 hours at night. Emma's ultasound was scheduled for 2:30 and Carter's for 3:15. Emma finished her last bottle at 11am and Carter finished his at 11:30am, both babies were hysterical by 1:30pm and we hadn't even left for the hospital yet! Luckily both babies fell asleep once we got in the car and started moving. Emma woke up as soon as we got to the hospital.

One tech. took Emma and I in one room, while another took Cole and Carter into another room. We were so thankful they managed to do them at the same time, instead of having to wait. Cole took Grace in with him and Carter, have I mentioned how awesome my husband is! Emma absolutely hated having the ultrasound done, they were having a hard time seeing her pancreas so after 20 minutes the doctor agreed to let her eat while they got a picture of her pancreas, thank god! Cole's tech. ended up doing the same thing with Carter, I think they must've had a little dicussion in the hall with the doctor together. Carter handled the ultrasound a little better then Emma did and was even sleeping at the beginning of it!

Everything anatomically looked fine today, so we'll meet with the GI doctor next week and see what he thinks.

Goal Updates

1- One of my goals for 2011 is to lose weight and have a healthier lifestyle, well I decided yesterday that I would start my diet today, and I actually did! I decided that the best thing for me, was to count calories, that always seems to work the best for me. I use FitDay to keep track of all my calories, plus you can set goals, and keep track of your weight loss progress. I've used this site since 2005 (how sad is it that I've been dieting on and off since 2005, and 6 years later I'm still at it!) which is cool cause I'm able to go back and look at my weight gain/loss over the years. Well, the day is almost over and I've stuck within my calorie range, even dispite the stress of the day, which is HUGE for me, because I'm such a stress eater!

2- Another one of our goals is to get Grace potty trained, well I'm happy to report that after dinner tonight, Grace asked for the potty to poop. The best part is that she sat down and peed right away, when I asked if she was done, she said "No, poop on potty!" and she did just that! Yay! It's definitely a step in the right direction!

Binkies, Poops, & A Giveaway

Don't worry I'm not giving either away! The Miracle Blanket Contest ends tonight at midnight, be sure to enter!

In other news Grace has now gone 4 whole days without a binkie! Surprising, she's handling it quite well, she will ask for it every now and then, but she's fine when we tell her we don't know where it is. I owe this binkieless state all to Cole. I didn't even realize he had weaned her until he was 2 days deep into the weaning. Yay, go Cole!

As far as the twins go, they have these crazy twin thing going on. You know, where they do the same thing at the same time. They often will sleep in the same position, they eat at the same time, and sleep at the same time, but now they are on the same poop schedule! Yesterday I went to change Carter and he had had a huge poop explosion and it was all over him and the bouncy seat. So I stripped him down, bathed him, and got him dressed. I then picked Emma up out of her bouncy seat and the same thing had happened, she had a huge poop explosion and it was all over her and the bouncy seat. So I stripped her down, bathed her, and got her dressed....oy vey! Two poop explosions and only one Mommy, makes for a HUGE mess!

16 Months

- You are full of energy and you're constantly on the move. You never sit still for longer then 5 minutes.

-You like to pretend to sneeze and blow your nose.
-You love playing in your kitchen and you're really good at pretend eating! You pretend to drink tea and then say "num num."

-You are doing a good job eatting off a plate and try very hard to use your fork or spoon. Although you still use your fingers when you get frustrated. You're to busy to sit and eat so you usually end up eating most of your dinner while running around.

-You will eat anything we put in front of you. You don't really like broccoli but will try it every time I put it in  front of you.

-You like to sing and dance...your such a girl!

-You love your dolls and are constantly carrying them and feeding them. You always share your food and drinks with them. You will make such a good Mommy and big sister someday.

-You like to play dress-up and are always trying to put any hats and shoes on you find around the house.

-You're doing a great job on the potty. You get very excited when you see the potty and you love to sit and play on it. You've now peed 14 times and pooped 2 times on the potty.

-You are a monkey and will try to climb on everything!

-You're pretty laid back and usually handle "nos" well.

-You are still so in love with Lily, but I often have to seperate you to because sometimes you have a hard time being nice to Lily.

-Words: Mama, Dada,Lily, Papa, Nana, Dirty, Diapier, Pepper, Purple, Three, Up,Sit, this, that, Jacob, Jack, yes, bum bum, cracker, done, pretty, tree, baby, Gracie's, please and no. You still say milk as "mmmmm." I've been trying to get you to make a "k" sound, put you think i'm clicking my tongue when I do it, so that's what you do.

-Signs:You sign mine, milk, baby, bed, brush your teeth, water, and touchdown.

-You can climb the stairs super fast.

-You like to stack blocks and then knock them down.

-You've really been into your shape sorter lately. If I point to which hole they go in, you'll put them in the right hole.

-Animal sounds you know: cow, dog, cat, elephant, horse, zebra, pig, bunny, monkey, fish, duck, (sheep and bee sometimes), and you think that reindeers say "nay" (I don't know what they do say, so I just go with it.)

-You've been sleeping with Daddy instead of me and no longer nurse at night...yeah!

-Body parts you can point to when asked: head, hair, nose, ears, mouth, teeth, belly button, boobies, bum bum, toes, and tongue.

-You still love books and have started pretending to read them. You say over and over 'ya ya ya" while turning pages.

-You love to sit and will make anything into a chair.

-You now have 9 teeth.

-You blow kisses, sometimes to strangers!

-You've suddenly sprouted up and have long legs! You certainly didn't get those from me.

-Your hair is finally starting to come in and I can manage to put it in little tiny pigtails.
We love you!

Grace has been doing such a good job and she loves sitting on the potty! I don't quite think Grace understands the whole concept yet, but she's making progress.

Potty Time

Today I ran to Ikea and grabbed Grace a $3 potty, just to start to get her familiar it. Tonight while I was changing her into her night time diaper I decided to sit her on the potty first. She sat down I handed her her milk she took a few sips and then got up. I went to put a diaper on, thinking she was just sitting on the potty, but nope she peed on the potty! I'm sure it was just a fluke, but oh my god! Cole and I both were so excited!
